PUPIL REFERRAL UNITS & ALTERNATIVE PROVISION
be fit • be ready • unlock potential
Jujitsucise delivers structured, high-impact self-defence, fitness, and personal development programmes for pupils educated within Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provision settings across London and Essex.
Sessions are designed for young people who may be attending provision for a short period of time or on a longer-term basis, and who often benefit most from movement, consistency, challenge, and strong relationships.
Jujitsucise provides a space where pupils can reset, rebuild confidence, and reconnect with positive routines, supporting personal development, mindset, and readiness for the next stage of their journey.
Designed and delivered by Mark Saunders — qualified teacher, former senior leader & DSL, Level 3 personal trainer, Sensei and experienced self-defence instructor.
WHAT WE OFFER
Jujitsucise provides a structured, relationship-led programme designed to support pupils who require an alternative approach to learning, behaviour, and personal development. Provision can be delivered as a standalone intervention or as a combined programme, depending on the needs of the pupils and setting.
1. Self-Defence & Fitness Sessions
High-energy, structured sessions that provide a safe and positive outlet for physical energy while building confidence, discipline and self-control.
Sessions include:
-
Glove and pad work
-
Practical self-defence and breakaway techniques
-
Movement, strength and conditioning
-
Emotional regulation through controlled physical activity
-
Clear routines, boundaries and expectations
These sessions are particularly effective in supporting engagement, focus and positive behaviour, especially for pupils who benefit from learning through movement.
2. Life Coaching & Unlocking Potential Programmes
Small-group coaching sessions focused on mindset, choices and personal responsibility. These sessions provide pupils with the space to reflect, reset and develop strategies for managing behaviour and emotions.
Sessions focus on:
-
Self-awareness and emotional regulation
-
Decision-making and accountability
-
Confidence and self-belief
-
Respect, resilience and self-control
-
Understanding consequences and making positive choices
When delivered alongside the Self-Defence & Fitness sessions, this combined approach has proven particularly powerful, supporting improved behaviour, engagement and self-regulation across many of the schools and provisions we work with. The physical sessions help pupils release energy and build discipline, while the life coaching element allows them to reflect and apply learning in a meaningful way.
3. Personal Safety Curriculum
A structured, age-appropriate personal safety programme that helps pupils understand risk, boundaries and safe decision-making in everyday situations.
This includes:
-
Situational awareness
-
Managing conflict safely
-
Understanding personal boundaries
-
Making safe choices in different environments
Delivered in a practical, non-threatening way that builds confidence without increasing anxiety.
4. Enrichment, Reward & Reset Days
One-off or short-term experiences designed to re-engage pupils, mark progress, or support reintegration and transition.
Ideal for:
-
Reward days
-
Reset and re-engagement programmes
-
Transition points
-
End-of-term enrichment
These days combine physical activity, teamwork, self-defence and personal development in a highly engaging format.
